Will I smell like a steak after I use it?

Absolutely not. We can promise that you will never smell beefy wearing our tallow. Some tallow products on the market are simply rendered and not purified, but at Heidi’s Tallow we pride ourselves on having adopted a thorough odor-removing process from day one. We achieve this by rendering AND purifying all of our tallow. This is a lengthy process which when carried out carefully removes every last bit of that beefy smell.

So fear not - as even our unscented products will never leave you smelling like a steak.

Is your tallow grass fed?

Our tallow is and always will be 100% Grass fed & finished. Grass finished means the cattle have lived their entire lives grazing at pasture eating only grass, including their last few months. We pride ourselves on producing tallow skincare that is not only Grass fed, but grass finished too.

Here at Heidi’s we believe in supporting our local farmers. That’s why every jar of Tallow we produce is made using only locally sourced Bundaberg beef suet.

I want a scented tallow, but so many I've smelled are almost intoxicating...

We hear you! Unfortunately this is pretty common. At Heidi’s Tallow we hand on heart promise that our tallow is so pure and odor-free that you will never have to suffer an overpowering blend of essential oils. Our approach to creating naturally scented products is entirely different to the rest - we add just enough to give you the aromatic experience you seek, never so much as to overpower your senses. Essential oils, when used minimally as they are intended, are perfectly safe and offer endless benefits to our health and wellbeing.

Where is your tallow made?

We are located in Moore Park Beach Queensland, a rural beachside town on the beautiful Burnett Coast.

Every product in our skincare range is handcrafted and prepared in-house. We do not outsource production at any stage of our process. Neither are we a small start-up working out of our family kitchen using shared equipment… Our entire production process from start to finish is conducted in our Heidi’s Tallow kitchen, a designated space where we use specific equipment dedicated only to our tallow business.

Do you use only pure essential oils?

Yes that’s right. Our scented products contain only the highest quality of essential oils on the market. 100% pure and ethically sourced/produced. Something that separates us from the rest is our promise to use only Pure Therapeutic-Grade essential oils.

Can I buy your products in a shop?

You sure can! Our products are currently stocked by eight stores in QLD & VIC. To find your nearest stockist click on the “stockists” tab at the top left of this page.

We often attend markets around the Bundaberg region as well, so maybe we’ll see you there!

Do you use enviro-friendly containers?

We sure do! Our Whipped Tallow is stored in glass jars and our Balms are all stored in aluminium tins. In fact, our entire rendering process is executed using only glass, ceramic, stainless steel, wood & silicone, so you can rest easy knowing your tallow is free from any nasty little micro-plastics!

Does tallow have a use-by date?

Yes. When stored as recommended your tallow will have a shelf-life of roughly 12 months. Our products are shelf stable so do not need to be refrigerated.

We recommend storing your tallow products out of direct sunlight and in an environment under 35 degrees/C. Tallow is a fat and prone to melt when subject to heat.

Please note that texture/consistency will slightly vary depending on temperature & current climate.

I don't see how tallow could be sustainable, could you please explain?

Of course - So… The beef industry isn’t going anywhere, right? Demand is too high and while a lot of people choose not to eat meat, as is their right to do so, Beef is and always will be the most nutritious human superfood on the planet. However, as things stand so much of the animal is wasted. Fat from the beast (suet) which is typically discarded is absolutely jam-packed with essential fatty acids and vitamins that are beneficial to our skin and health. Tallow production prevents this powerful & nutrient-dense fat from wasting away unused.
